Think back to January 7th 2014. Think about who you were, in terms of your likes, dislikes, and personality traits. Completely different to who you are now, right? Your life experiences – including the people you have met, and all the Ls you have taken along the way – have caused you to evolve into a brighter, better version of your past self (or you may be worse than you were 5 years ago, but that’s none of my business).

There comes a time where, occasionally, we decide that we will no longer be a victim of a particular circumstance e.g. being the friend that gets sent to the shops all the time. We start asking ourselves questions:

– “Why can’t Tunde do it?”
– “Would they do the same if I needed some chocolate?”
– “Do these people even like/respect me?”

When we finally build up the courage to answer these questions, more often than not, we realise that we’ve allowed ourselves to fall into these situations. Let’s answer the questions above:

– Tunde sets his boundaries, and knows when to say ‘no’ to things he can’t/doesn’t want to do. He is a lot more assertive than I am, and doesn’t allow people to use his kindness for weakness.

– Don’t be silly, of course they wouldn’t! The sooner you realise that respect, support, and favours aren’t transactional, the better.

– No, no they don’t. Your real friends want you to be the best versions of yourself, and will be vocal about which traits they feel need working on. They’ll be patient and won’t exploit you for their own benefit. People that use you for your weakness (and strengths!), are not your real friends.

Instead of feeling resentment towards other people; the situations you’re constantly in; or yourself, you need to simply throw your current mindset in the bin, press the reset button on your brain, and decide who want to be.

Remember: You are under no obligation to be the same person you were 5 years, 5 months, or even 5 minutes ago. You have the right to grow. No apologies, and no excuses.
How Do I Reinvent Myself?
It’s very simple actually. Last Monday, we asked you to tell us your goals for 2019 (if you haven’t already, it’s not too late!).

We believe you can all achieve your individual goals, if you understand what needs to be done to smash each goal. All that’s left is to become the person that can accomplish these goals.

By this time next year, you’ll be moving brand new. And that’s okay. We don’t blame you !

What changes will you be making this year, to improve yourself? Send us an email with a description of the 2019 version of yourself to
